Most Improved Player Award

After my soccer injury, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I knew for sure I didn't want to stop working out but I was unsure what kind of sport I should continue playing. I was still in the midst of deciding when one of my friends asked me if I wanted to play volleyball. But I refused at first, not too sure whether I wanted to play Volleyball as it involved using my arms more. So I went to watch a game. I guess more to support my friends than to actually see the gameplay. As I sat on the sides of the court and watched my friends play, I became more and more absorbed in the game - I was one of the teammates just sitting on the benches sitting for my turn. I saw how much teamwork and trust this game required and I decided to try out for the team. I practiced with my friends every week, preparing for the big day.
I think it was all the time that my friends and I put into practice. I made it onto the team. When I joined the team, I could clearly see that I wasn't the best player on the team. So all I could do was practice. I would spend any free time I had practicing Volleyball. I watched videos of volleyball games trying to see how each player would play in their given position.
Before I knew it, I was getting better and better at it. During practice, I wouldn't be on the sidelines practicing lifting the ball. I would be on the court with the other teammates playing a mock game. Then I was able to play real games.
Because of my hard work and the time I spend practicing, I think this is why I was able to get the most improved player award.
