SIFMA Foundation Stock Market Game Fall Session

The SIMFA Foundation, a foundation dedicated to educating individuals about financial markets, is known for its Stock Market Game which was developed in order to help students like me understand the fundamentals of investing. During the game, we get to put into use, what we learn in the classroom such as math and English.

As I have been getting older and receiving and earning money on my own, I have gained a large interest in investing. The way I saw it was that it was a way of earning money without having to actually do anything. But that was before I started the SIFMA foundation stock market game.

Through the game, I learned that the world of investment was a lot more than just numbers and gaining money. It requires a lot more integration of different areas of knowledge and also just a little bit of luck.

So when an online competition using this game was held, I participated not knowing how well this would turn out. To my surprise, I yielded more than 20% profit in just three months, ranking me second in the competition. I analyzed and traded with companies in very diverse industries including gas, automobile, electronics, IT, and consumer goods. I also structured a short-term portfolio evaluating their growth potential.
