My love-hate relationship with Biology
To complete my StemCo Awards, my final award is Biology.
I haven't had the best relationship with Biology.
I might even call it a one-sided love.
I personally like and enjoy Biology but Biology just doesn't seem to like me back. Whether the unit was a little difficult or the test itself was difficult, I just couldn't seem to ace it like I would the other subjects.
I would spend time going over concepts, memorizing cells and their roles, and learning about their interactions with other cells. I would also memorize the entire taxonomic classifications of different plants and animals but I guess it wasn't enough.
This year, because I'm not taking Biology in school, I decided to take a different approach. I went over details that I might normally skip over. I made little cheat sheets I would look at every day. I didn't pour a full day or two of my time into Biology instead I took small chunks of a unit at a time and studied continuously every day making sure to review what I had studied the day before. Maybe it was the change of the method or just the new sense of motivation I had, but I was able to get a Bronze award in the StemCo competition. This bronze award meant so much to me. It was a result of my hard work, encouraging me to continue.
